That is exactly what is needed: a universal guaranteed income so that nobody, not one Canadian is left behind in the dust. Our country is rich enough to afford it and in the long run it will pay off multiple times in terms of savings all across board (health, social stability, economic growth, education, etc.).
It is a paradigm shift that has to happen. The actual state of the capitalist economy and the increasing inequality between the rich and the poor can only drag us down the path of more social disturbance, health costs, undemocratic policies, etc.
