The Government of Canada is providing $1,475,000 over three years to Canada’s History Society for the following three initiatives: the Governor General’s History Awards and its associated History Forum, the website canadashistory.ca and Kayak magazine. This funding is provided through the Canada History Fund.

The funding was announced by the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

“Our Government is proud to support projects such as this one that give Canadians the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of their country and its history,” says Glover.

“I would like to commend Canada’s History Society for its commitment to ensuring our collective past has a vibrant presence in Canada today.”

Janet Walker, President and CEO of Canada’s History Society, says, “Through these activities and awards, we hope to inspire passion and interest in all to explore the past. Canada’s History is grateful for the Government’s support of this project: it is a significant investment in Canada’s future.”
